New Advertising Campaign Celebrates Everyday Airhead Moments

Drive away with coffee on top of the car? Walk into a screened door? Everyone has airhead moments! Today, Airheads candy is launching “The World Needs More Airheads” – the first-ever mass marketing campaign for the brand – highlighting and celebrating the real life mishaps that make us laugh. Airheads is extending the call to fans to share their own unpredictably awesome moments of pure airheadedness for the chance to be featured in future advertising.

“‘The World Needs More Airheads” campaign aims to shine a spotlight on the unexpected happenings that make life interesting and best of all funny,” said Jen Redmond, Associate Brand Manager, Perfetti Van Melle USA. “Airheads fans are already capturing airhead moments everyday on platforms like Vine, YouTube and Instagram. Now they can submit these moments for a chance to appear in a national advertising campaign.”

To kick off the campaign, Airheads has scoured the online universe and partnered with the funniest Vine stars to capture their airhead moments for use in the initial commercial spots. Fans who want to get famous and be included in future advertising are being asked to submit a video of their own little oops, a hilarious screw-up or an amazingly airheaded idea on the campaign Tumblr page at AirheadsNeeded.com. All videos submitted that capture the joys of true airheadedness will also be featured on the site.

Videos can either be pre-captured gems that have yet to be shared with the world or newly created greatness. The top three will be selected and used in upcoming TV commercials with others featured in mobile and online advertising beginning in June.

Airhead moments are always funny, but never painful, so fans should steer clear of submitting videos that hurt themselves or others. No pranks please or making fun of others – after all, the world needs more airheads, not jerks. For a full list of submission do’s and don’ts, rules and regulations or inspiration, visit AirheadsNeeded.com. Fans are also encouraged to use the hashtag #Airheadsneeded when sharing through social channels to celebrate their own airhead moments with the world.
